LINCOLN – On March 15 and 16, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School Lego League teams competed at the new State event at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge head coach Shannon Benson welcomed his 10th track and field teams to the spring season when the Bears and Lady Bears opened practice a couple of weeks ago.

LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge School Board approved three significant purchases at its last regular board meeting.

COLERIDGE – The inaugural Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fifth- and sixth-grade honor band was held on Thursday, March 14, at the LCC Middle School.

CROFTON – Starting at 8 a.m. March 18, the Gavins Point Dam spillway gates will be open and will remain that way till the end of May this year.

WYNOT – Agriculture is in Aurora Urwiler’s blood – and now she gets to pass on seeds of her knowledge while growing a new program at Wynot Public Schools.

LAUREL – A trio of LCC basketball players received postseason recognition recently.

OSMOND – The LCC speech team fared well at the recent Lewis and Clark Conference festival in Osmond.

NORFOLK – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge FFA attended District Career Development Events at Northeast Community College on Feb. 26.

BROOKINGS, S.D. Erin Richelle DeHaan of Laurel graduated after the summer and fall 2023 semesters at South Dakota State University. Nearly 1,000 students completed all requirements for a degree and/or certificate program, and those requirements have been verified by the appropriate college.

COLERIDGE – The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting March 4 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then separated and held their monthly meetings.

While people in much of Cedar County were battling grass fires, some of the people in the northern end of the county were more concerned about flooding.

LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge school board and Laurel city council races will be uncontested unless there’s a write-in candidate.

LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School held its first annual Bear Day March 5.

OMAHA – Alyza Leonard, an eighth grade student at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School competed at the Midwest Regional Spelling Bee March 9 at Strauss Performing Arts Center at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

LAUREL – The LCC FFA Chapter will send 17 students to the State FFA Convention in April to compete in 11 different events.

WAYNE – LCC students were among the over 700 students from 31 schools in Nebraska and South Dakota to participate in Wayne State College’s Middle School Music Festival March 5-6.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Bryan Stuckenschmidt of Omaha is one of the Aviation Maintenance students at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa who helped restore a Huey helicopter for the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial which is under construction in Papillion.
