By May of 1943, World War II was approaching the half-way point.

Proper stocking is a cornerstone of proper grazing management and a healthy pasture. It’s tempting to take the easy route and keep using the same stocking rate year after year. After all, if it’s not broke, why fix it? But over time, could this approach do more harm than good?

LAUREL – Dorothy Patefield has baked love into students’ favorite school meals for the last 19 years.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Landen Leonard was selected to represent Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School in KCAU 9 salute to the area’s top academic achievers in the 41st Annual “Best of the Class” program that was held on May 1. 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Laurel native Sidney Groene recently graduated from Southeast Technical College.

WAKEFIELD – Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership will hold the Wayne WIC and Immunization clinic Tuesday May 14 at the Evangelical Covenant Church 802 Winter St. in Wakefield.

COLERIDGE – The annual Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School Music Contest was held Friday at the LCC Middle School.

WAYNE - Laurel-Concord-Coleridge played here in the Wayne High Mac Invitational at the Wayne Country Club on May 2 and ended up fifth in a solid field of 14 teams.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar County Tourism Board (CCTB) met and reviewed applications for projects and events that will support county businesses and bring visitors to the area.

PONCA - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track teams completed a busy week with the Lewis & Clark Conference Meet held here April 27. Earlier in the week the teams were in Creighton for an invitational which saw the Lady Bears bring home the runner-up hardware.

The month of May brought a flurry of activities for members of the Senior class of 1943. The first activity was “skip day.” Thirty-five of the 38 seniors were driven to Sioux City where they spent the morning visiting city hall, the fire department, and the bomber plant. After lunch they spent the afternoon rollerskating on the floor of the Rigadon ballroom. In the evening they attended a movie.

WAYNE – The Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership will hold the Wayne WIC and Immunization Clinic Tuesday, May 7, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 516 Main St. in Wayne.

LAUREL – The LifeServe Blood Center will hold a blood drive in Laurel this month.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – On Friday, April 19, Laurel-Concord- Coleridge music students participated in the District Music Contest at South Sioux City Middle School.
