LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School students recently took part in an art contest.

ALLEN – The Dixon County 4-H Contest Day was held on Monday, April 1 at the United Methodist Church in Allen. 4-H members presented speeches and PSAs; performed musical solos and duets, piano and instrumental solos, and dances; and prepared their favorite food.

CREIGHTON – The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track-and-field season got underway on April 2 when it competed in the Knox County Invitational in Creighton, with the Bears finishing seventh as a team and the Lady Bears coming in fifth.

YANKTON, S.D. – The Yankton Meridian Bridge Centennial task force invites the public out to beautiful Riverside Park to celebrate National Trails Days, 10 a.m.-noon, April 27.

Kaden and Kyson, children of Justin and Chelsey Schmit, Randolph, check out their haul after they gathered Easter Eggs at the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Laurel Saturday. The boys’ grandparents, John and Lisa Wolfgram, Laurel, also attended the event. The event once again drew quite a crowd, as even chilly temperatures couldn’t keep the area kids away.

Area residents had plenty of entertainment options Saturday to entertain the kids before Easter.

KEARNEY – The 38th Class C All State Honor Band was held at Kearney High School March 23.

HARTINGTON – The lawyer for a man accused of a quadruple murder in Laurel is arguing the trial should be moved out of Cedar County due to pretrial publicity and juror bias.

Kella Koch, Nora Pinkleman, Emily Erwin and Ryklyn Wiebelhaus recently took part in the Father-Daughter Dance at the Laurel VFW Hall. The sound of giggles, laughter and popping of balloons could be heard in the Hall as the third annual event was held. Little girls were all dressed up in their finest topped off with cowboy boots and hats. The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Parent-Teacher Organization hosted the event with several activities planned for the evening.

LINCOLN – On March 15 and 16, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School Lego League teams competed at the new State event at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska School Activities Association announced the student recipients of the Winter 2023-2024 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association Academic All-State Awards.
