RANDOLPH - The Randolph Lady Cardinal basketball team completed the pre-moratorium portion of its schedule with a couple of losses last week.
The Lady Cardinals fell to Archangels Catholic on Dec. 20, 60-11, in a game played in Randolph and 54-4 to Creighton on Dec. 17 in a game played on the Lady Bulldog’s home court.
The Lady Defenders held Randolph scoreless until after the halftime huddle.
At the other end of the court, the Archangel’s offense put up 44 points in the first two quarters to put the game out of reach.
Randolph did play with the Lady Defenders in the third when they scored seven points but were outscored 9-4 in the final quarter to get to the 60-11 final score.
The Lady Cards got scoring from Abby Backer, who scored five points. Brooke Meier added four and Lilly Kuchta put in one basket.
Against Creighton, the Lady Bulldogs ran out to a 17-0 lead after the first stanza before the Lady Cardinals put in all of the baskets they would score in the second frame.
After heading to the halftime huddle with a 29-4 advantage, Creighton pulled away in the second half to record the 54-4 final.
Meier and Delayne Thelen scored the two baskets for Randolph.
The Lady Cardinals will be off until they host Lyons-Decatur Northeast in a makeup game on Jan. 2 after the Christmas moratorium.
