Detlefsen will continue baseball career at Mt. Marty

LAUREL — Koby Detlefsen’s love of baseball has paid off for him.

Detlefsen recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Mt. Marty University in Yankton, S.D.

Even though Laurel does not field a Legion baseball team, Detlefsen, Dylan Taylor and Dan Puppe played on the Hartington Post 4 American Legion team.

Detlefsen was a key ingredient to Hartington’s post season success, helping the Post 4 Juniors earn Junior Legion runner-up honors in the Class C State Junior American Legion Tournament.

“State was a lot of fun,” Detlefsen said. All three bat toward the top of the line up and all three have pitched for either the Post 4 Juniors or Seniors.

Detlefsen played first for the Hartington Juniors and was a regular in the Seniors’ line up.
