LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge cross country team hosted Laurel’s Ag Days Fun Run.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – More than 3,300 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean’s list.

In an interview recorded on May 28, 2004, Lauren Johnson told this writer that he had met up with another Laurel soldier somewhere between Omaha Beach and the French city of St. Lo.

WAYNE – Wayne State College included 1,154 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Spring 2024 semester. Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA for the term.

HARTINGTON – All Cedar County residents are invited and encouraged to enter open class exhibits for the Cedar County Fair, July 18. Exhibit categories includes Horticulture, Fruits and Vegetables, Flowers, Domestic Science, Quilts, Photography, Needlework and Arts and Crafts for all ages.

LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is making plans to accommodate for a larger than usual preschool enrollment for 2024-25.

Hall of Fame

LAUREL – The City of Laurel will continue to receive support for its water and wastewater operations from the City of Wayne.

Mallory Eriksen: She plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue studies in Pre-Radiologic Technology. She received: Alumni Association Scholarship; Eldon Haisch Memorial Scholarship; Laurel-Concord Educational Foundation Dagmar-Nissen Health Sciences Scholarship; Laurel-Concord Educational Foundation Gary Newton Memorial Scholarship; Citizens State Bank Scholarship; Coleridge Community Educational Foundation Gayle R. Heitman Memorial Scholarship.

HARTINGTON – 4-H members across Cedar County are gearing up for the 2024 Cedar County Fair. A total of 40 4-H members participated in 4-H Project Day held June 6 in Hartington. Youth in attendance each made four projects to exhibit at the upcoming Cedar County Fair.

Jackson Hall, Coleridge, recently received his Eagle Scout badge. For his project, Hall repainted the Coleridge weight room, cleaned it from top to bottom, reorganized it and then painted the mural. Josh Erwin is the troop representative. Pictured with Hall are the board of review team, James Hansen, Gene Barg and Pat Sukup.
