Road crews have a lot of work to do after tough winter

March 1, 2000

COLERIDGE—Stephen “Pee Wee” Kalin was busy the past few days attempting to reclaim some badly deteriorated roads in the area. Badly needed rain and warm weather removing frost from the ground made some county roads nearly impassable.

The road west from the Highway 15 curve south of Coleridge was open only to local traffic due to its condition.

LAUREL — Michelle Karlberg, a former resident of Laurel, has undertaken a new venture.

Karlberg has opened “Upholstery Designs by Michelle” at her home in Dixon County.

She had been doing upholstery work on a part-time basis while working for HOM Furniture in Sioux City, Iowa.

It didn’t take long before the news spread on the outstanding work Karlberg was doing.

Karlberg is now doing upholstery work for businesses and individuals, along with a few other projects on a full-time basis.

The demand for her work increased a lot faster than Karlberg ever imagined.
