LAUREL – This is the first season of eSports for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School.

LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Lady Bears had a bit of a successful week, taking care of Osmond/Randolph back on Jan. 23, 56-29 then taking care of Wakefield, 68-52 before opening play in the Lewis Division of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament with a win over Bloomfield on Jan. 27, 61-29.

WALTHILL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was bounced from the winner’s bracket in the quarterfinals of the Lewis Division of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament here Jan. 29 by Wynot, 70-50, after having a busy and fairly successful week prior to the tournament.

WAYNE – After returning to the court after a couple of weeks off thanks to Old Man Winter, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge ran into a couple of good basketball teams in Battle Creek and at Wayne Jan. 19 and 20.

SEWARD – A Laurel native continues to make a name for himself on the college basketball court.

Elizabeth and William Kneifl had fun climbing a snow mountain near their house. They were later joined by their siblings, Walter (back) and Genevieve (front) as they decided to go sledding. The snow and cold couldn’t keep these area kids from being outside. The recent snowfalls were all that was needed to give area kids a chance to finally get out and have some fun in the white stuff. From sledding to climbing the huge mountains of snow to building a tunnel, or maybe building a snowman or having a snowball fight, whatever the activity was, the kids had a ball.

LAUREL – A new childcare facility in the works for Laurel will be built new instead of renovating.

DES MOINES, Iowa – After 37 years with TMC and as one of very few drivers to achieve more than four million safe miles, specialized driver Les Bohlken retired at the end of 2023.

Another building with a long history is being demolished. This one is the old lumberyard on the north side of First Street. Older people may remember it as Great Plains Supply Co. Although this building was erected 110 years ago, a lumberyard has occupied that site since the beginning of the town.

LAUREL - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys' basketball team split a pair of games to open 2024 when the Bears dropped a game to Cedar Catholic here in Laurel on Jan. 4, 50-40 then hit the road to win a thriller over Winnebago the following night, 49-48.

LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge dropped a girls’ basketball game to Cedar Catholic here on Jan. 4 to open action in 2024 then traveled to Winnebago on Jan. 5 to take on the Lady Indians in a Lewis & Clark Conference match up that was all Lady Bears, winning 70--   false
