HARTINGTON - Laurel-Concord-Coleridge swept through the Hartington- Newcastle Invitational Saturday with two-set sweeps over North Central, Tri County Northeast and Hartington-Newcastle after splitting matches with Howells-Dodge and Humphrey/Lindsay in a triangular played in Humphrey on Oct. 10.

The Lady Bears had little trouble in the Hartington-Newcastle Tournament, sweeping North Central 25-5 and 25-6, sweeping the hosts 25-16 and 25-14 and taking care of Tri County Northeast 25-16 and 25-18.

Against the Wolfpack, Rena Rasmussen paved the way with nine winners in the match, Tali Erwin and Carlie Kvols added three each.

Kvols tipped up 14 set assists while Lainey Schutte had a couple of ace serves.

Kaida Eriksen had seven digs in the match, Schutte had six, Erwin five and Tyler Recob had four.

In the win over Hartington-Newcastle, LCC got 10 kills from Rasmussen and Kvols recorded 20 assists.

Erwin and Kvols had seven digs each and Erwin and Schutte had a pair of ace serves each.

The Lady Bears made hay from the service line against North Central.

Erwin led the way with 10 ace serves in the match, Rasmussen had four and Eriksen added three as the Lady Bears rifled 20 non-refundable serves.

In the triangular at Humphrey/ Lindsay, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge went up against a couple of quality opponents and came away with a 26-24 and 25-23 win over stubborn Howells-Dodge and lost only its third match of the season to the hosts, 2517 and 25-22, leaving both teams with 23-2 records for 2024.

Erwin and Rasmussen had good nights at the net with both of them hammering 17 kills in the two sets. Erwin had 10 against the Lady Jaguars and seven against Humphrey/ Lindsay.

Kvols had 36 set assists in the two matches.

Eriksen had 17 digs against Howells-Dodge, Schutte contributed nine and Erwin just missed a doubledouble with eight to go along with her 10 winners.

Rasmussen did get her double-double in the Humphrey/Lindsay match with her 12 kills and 17 digs.

The Lady Bears were set to welcome Cedar Catholic to Laurel on Oct. 15 before heading to the inaugural Greater Northeast Activities Conference Tournament Oct. 21 through Oct. 25.
