HARTINGTON – Last Thursday, April 25, was Arbor Day in Hartington and it was celebrated with the fourth-graders from both Hartington schools each planting a tree.

WAYNE – Benjamin Benton has been named the new Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) director for the Northeast region.

I’ve found most people generally have two schools of thought when it comes to approaching their work.

HARTINGTON - The Hartington Newcastle FFA Chapter had a lot to celebrate Friday at the annual FFA Banquet.

NORFOLK - The 2024 Norfolk Classic Track and Field Meet was held April 25 at Johnny Carson Field in Norfolk.

PONCA – The Hartington-Newcastle track teams are reaping the rewards of patience and hard work.

ALBION - The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan track team ran, jumped and threw well enough to finish second in the Mid State Conference Track and Field Meet here April 27.

PIERCE – The Cedar Catholic golf team traveled to Battle Creek for the Pierce Invitational April 27 as the Pierce golf course is not ready for full play.

LEWIS & CLARK CONFERENCE TRACK at Ponca

PONCA - The Wynot Blue Devil and Lady Blue Devil track teams competed in the Lewis & Clark Conference Track and Field Meet here on April 27 with the Blue Devils placing 12th and the Lady Blue Devils coming in 10th.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar County Tourism Board (CCTB) met and reviewed applications for projects and events that will support county businesses and bring visitors to the area.

The month of May brought a flurry of activities for members of the Senior class of 1943. The first activity was “skip day.” Thirty-five of the 38 seniors were driven to Sioux City where they spent the morning visiting city hall, the fire department, and the bomber plant. After lunch they spent the afternoon rollerskating on the floor of the Rigadon ballroom. In the evening they attended a movie.

HARTINGTON – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge got busy over the past week as the golf team prepares for the upcoming district tournament May 14 in Hartington.

PONCA - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track teams completed a busy week with the Lewis & Clark Conference Meet held here April 27. Earlier in the week the teams were in Creighton for an invitational which saw the Lady Bears bring home the runner-up hardware.

WAYNE – The Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership will hold the Wayne WIC and Immunization Clinic Tuesday, May 7, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 516 Main St. in Wayne.
