COLERIDGE – Steady progress is being made on the Coleridge Village Park Improvement Project.

The old playground equipment and the old concrete have now been removed from the Coleridge park. Dirt work is now being completed at the park in preparation for new playground equipment. The community improvement project was undertaken thanks to a big fund-raising drive from the Coleridge Area Fund. SEATTLE, Wash. – Paul Jerome Bonertz, 49, died April 20, 2024, in Seattle, Wash. A Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., June 22, at Menominee Cemetery, officiated by Father Keiter. VFW Post 5283 will present a salute to fallen comrade. A reception will be at Hartington VFW where all are invited to meet his family for lunch.

MEADVILLE, Penn. – Kathleen M. Glasl, 77, died June 7, 2024, at Meadville Medical Center.

HOLDREDGE – Mass of Christian Burial for Donna Beaudette will be held June 13, at 10:30 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, Holdrege, with Father Jay Buhman as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

YANKTON, S.D. – Quinten Tramp, 87, Yankton, S.D., died peacefully June 4, 2024, at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, S.D., with his family by his side.

TRINITY, Texas – Leigh Harlan Lorenson, son of Ed and Ann Lorenson was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Wausa. He died May 9, 2024, in Trinity, Texas, at the age of 90. Leigh grew up on a farm east of Wausa, with two sisters. He was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran church and graduated from Wausa High School in 1952. During those years, his love of building and inventing and his strong work ethic began. As with many people, Leigh’s life was written in two chapters. His first chapter began June 20, 1954, when he married Phyllis Tweedy at the Congregational Church in Hartington, and from that union raised three children, MeLea, Kevin and Kirk. During these early years, Leigh worked as a carpenter around the Yankton, S.D., area and Colorado until moving his family to Lincoln to begin work at Goodyear and Inland Shock Baton. During these years, he invented the collapsible Minnow Trap and attended trade shows selling his new product. Leigh and Phyllis moved their family to Texas in the late 1960s with the concrete company and then started his own cabinet making business. His kids watched their dad build a boat, tear apart and rebuild a Harley Davidson motorcycle, own and pilot a plane, build treehouses and playhouses, stilts, skateboards, go-carts and other memorable, fun things too numerous to mention.

ORCHARD – Funeral Services for Cheryl A. Meier, 75, Orchard, will be 10:30 a.m., June 12, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Clearwater, with Pastor Sollberger officiating.

COLERIDGE – Susan Johnson Olson, 59, Coleridge, died June 5, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., after battling cancer and a stroke.
