HARTINGTON— Jerry and Marlene Dendinger have purchased Summers Service from Harvey and Dolores Summers.

The business will begin operating under the name of Jerry’s Service on Jan. 1, 1980.

Both of the Dendingers will be involved in the operation of the station. Jerry, who has worked as a lineman for Cedar-Knox Public Power District for 12 years, had worked at the station for five years prior to working for the power company.

The Dendingers have two boys, Kerry, 8 and Kurt, 3.

The Summers have been in business in Hartington since 1952, when Harvey and his father, the late Dell Summers, purchased the station from R.H. Smith.

Prior to that, the Summers had been engaged in farming.

In 1956, the Summers, as well as Clifford, Marvin and Harold Fuelberth and Walt and Les Korff built the present station directly behind the old building.

Harvey has operated the bulk truck and Dolores has kept books for the business over the years.
