HARTINGTON — Hanging from the rafters of Martin Nelson’s workshop in Hartington are quite a number of relics of the past.
They include a pair of old boots said to have been worn by Gen. Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, a corn sheller once the property of Abe Lincoln’s father and the first grist mill or family flour mill in Wayne county.
He also possesses a coffee mill used by the family of William Jennings and Charles W. Bryan.

FORDYCE —William Schieffer was re-elected to a three-year term as a director of the Fordyce Co-Op Lumber and Supply Company at the organization’s annual business meeting here. Company President Arthur Schulte presided.

HARTINGTON — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brummer and Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Stappert attended a reception at Dodge honoring Rt. Rev. Msgr. Anthony Kluthe and Very Rt. Rev. Msgr. Roman Ulrich, both of Omaha. The two priests had previously been accorded Papal honors in ceremonies in Omaha.
Father Kluthe is a former pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bow Valley.
