Cedar Catholic claims its fourth straight District basketball title

LINCOLN – No one was surprised when Wynot and Falls City Sacred Heart faced off with each other at this year’s Class D2 State Tournament.

LINCOLN – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils took on the top-rated team in Class D2 on Saturday night at the Pinnacle Bank Arena with a state championship on the line.

LINCOLN – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils met a familiar foe in their first round game of the Class D2 state tournament at the Devaney Center in Lincoln on Wednesday night. The Lady Blue Devils would build a 24-17 halftime lead over Plainview and went on to earn a 46-31 win to advance to play Falls City Sacred Heart in the next round.

HARTINGTON – For the fourth consecutive season, Cedar Catholic is heading to Lincoln for the Class C2 State Basketball Championships, but the first year under head coach Nick Haselhorst, who replaced Matt Steffen in 2023-24 after a year on the bench last season as an assistant.

OMAHA – A pair of Wynot athletes were named to the Omaha World Herald’s Class D-2 State Tournament All--Tournament team.

LINCOLN – The No. 1 Pender Pendragons are going to the Class D1 NSAA Girls Basketball State Championship game Saturday. On Friday, they defeated the No. 4 St. Mary’s Cardinals 48-39 in the quarterfinals at the Devaney Sports Center.
