HARTINGTON — Nine Hartington-Newcastle football players were recognized on the D1-3 All-District and Honorable Mention lists this past week by the coaches in the district.
Each team in the district is allowed a certain number of first-team selections based on the team’s finish in the standings of the district at the end of the season.
Crofton, which won the D1-3 District title with a 5-0 record, was allowed six players on the All-District list.
Hartington-Newcastle, the District runnerup with a 4-1 record, was allowed five; three district teams tied for third with 2-3 records and were allowed three players each and Wausa/Osmond was sixth with an 0-5 record and had two players on the first team.
Wildcat seniors, Cole Heimes, Ayden Rosener, Cole Rosener and Cole Bensen along with junior Ashton Wakeley were named to the All-District team for their play on the field this past fall.
Senior, Logan Opfer; juniors, Brayden Lammers and Carter Kelly and sophomore Lincoln Grutsch were tabbed honorable mention.
