NELIGH - The Hartington Pony League 14U baseball team completed an undefeated march through the regular season and tournament of the Quad County League here with a come-from-behind walk-off thriller in the finals over Neligh 4-3.

BLAIR – The Hartington Dolphins continued a very successful summer with its biggest win of the season , scoring 513.5 team points in the Blair Invitational to out distance the North Bend Sharks by nearly 200 points.

CREIGHTON - Despite owning an automatic berth to this weekend’s Nebraska Class C Junior American Legion Baseball Tournament as the host, the Hartington Post 4 American Legion Juniors are making a bid to get there with the Class C Area 1 championship trophy in tow.

The Hartington Pony team won the conference tournament to finish out the season in style. WYNOT - The Wynot Expos snapped a 3-game losing steak with a 6-5 win over the Freeman Black Sox here July 7 to improve to 4-10 on the 2024 season. Earlier in the week, the Expos lost on the road to the Crofton Bluejays, 10-2 on July 3.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington Penguin 18U softball team got together with Crofton July 2 to play a doubleheader as the teams prepared for the upcoming state tournaments.

CROFTON – The annual emergence of mayflies at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area near Crofton means the insects are plentiful near and around the lake as they swarm to lights from the marina, cabins, facilities and campers.

TEAM RESULTS

LINCOLN – Bird-watching enthusiasts and families enjoyed new adventures all throughout the month of May while competing in the second Nebraska Birding Bowl.

WISNER – The Hartington Post 4 Junior American Legion baseball team made it to the finals of the Ralph Bishop League Tournament with wins over Crofton and Wayne to take the North Division of the league then fell 7-3 in the championship game to Pender Post 55 here on July 6.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington Dolphins swam past the competition in their own meet here Tuesday, July 2 outdistancing the Wayne Dolphins, 749-591.

LINCOLN – Residents may buy any available deer and antelope permits, within permit limits, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time.

WYNOT - For the third time this season, the Wynot Expos were defeated by the Yankton Tappers in South Central League action, dropping a 13-12 decision here on July 1.

CROFTON - The Hartington 18U Penguin softball team finished a busy week in its league tournament here June 30 where the Penguins went 1-2 with a pair of losses to Crofton and Verdigre sandwiched around a win over Wausa in the second round.
