WYNOT - Wynot football coach Steve Heimes announced 10 Wynot football players were named D2-2 All-District and All-District honorable mention last week.
The Blue Devils finished the 2024 campaign with a 7-3 record in the quarterfinals of the D2 playoffs where they lost to eventual Class D2 State Champion, Cedar Valley 44-6.
The Cougars went on to win the state championship Monday at Memoril Stadium, defeating Riverside 52-12.
Wynot completed the regular season 6-2 and won the D2-2 District title with a 5-0 record against the teams in district action.
The Blue Devils defeated Randolph, 50-12, Lyons-Decatur Northeast 54-8, Walthill 50-8, Winside 28-0 and Bancroft-Rosalie 54-28 to remain unbeaten in the district and advance to the playoffs.
Wynot placed seven players on the All-District First Team and three Blue Devils earned honorable mention accolades.
Andrew Haberman, Alec Sudbeck, Ian Haberman, Parker Schmidt, Lane Heimes, Emersyn Guenther and Devin Brummer were all named All-District.
Killian Stenhaus, Kotner Koch and Kason Hanson were tabbed honorable mention.
Bancroft-Rosalie placed six players on the elite list, LDNE had five, Winside had four, Randolph had three and the Blujays had a couple.
