OSMOND – Last week, the Randolph-Osmond Lady Hawks faced the O’Neill St. Mary’s Cardinals in the basketball season opener in Osmond. The Cardinals came into the game ranked No. 3 in D1 and were able to shut down the home-team Hawks, winning 75-31.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar Catholic Trojans welcomed in a new head coach when the first basketball practices began this year.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans return three starters from last season’s team that finished the season 22-7 and placed third in the Class D-1 State Championships, their fourth consecutive trip to Lincoln.

HARTINGTON – Second-year head coach. Tylor Fincher welcomed 21 players to the team this late fall, several newcomers and a couple of players that led Hartington-Newcastle in 2022-23.

NORFOLK – Four Cedar Catholic Trojans were named to the C2-4 All-District Football Team by the district coaches.

ST. LOUIS–A program-record seven South Dakota football players earned all-MVFC honors and another five earned honorable mention as the MVFC announced its postseason award teams Monday.

WYNOT – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils will open the 2023-24 basketball campaign looking for just one more basket. Wynot fell one basket short of its ninth Class D2 State title at the end of last season, falling to Falls City Sacred Heart 33-32 in the finals at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

PONCA – Spend some time at Ponca State Park by attending a variety of events there this fall and winter.

MADISON – The Osmond-Randolph Hawks began their season in Madison Nov. 21 in the annual Jamboree game to raise money for the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. It is an exhibition game, and does not count towards the official win-loss season record.

VERMILLION, S.D. – The college football career of Cedar Catholic High School graduate Stephen Hillis is coming to a close after the 2023 season.

WAYNE – Former Cedar Catholic High School standout Rex Becker recently completed his college career at Wayne State College on the gridiron.

LINCOLN – The Wynot Blue Devils’ dream football season came crashing to an end Monday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

HARTINGTON – The long, slow burn of the evolution of the Cedar Catholic wrestling program continues this winter.

LINCOLN – Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game issues during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public information meetings this winter.

NORFOLK – The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan volleyball team had two players named to the 2023 Mid State All-Conference Volleyball Team recently announced by the conference coaches.

HARTINGTON– Hartington-Newcastle and head coach, Grant Rolfes, return nine players who wore varsity uniforms for the Lady Wildcats last season.

“This team has the potential for sure to be one of the best, not only in school history but a team that can contend for tournament titles and possibly dual our way into the state duals,” Bartling said. “I can easily see the vast majority of this team not only making a run at state, but I expect to be competing towards the podium in Omaha.”

WYNOT - Although the Wynot Blue Devils haven’t set foot on the basketball court this season, for practice or otherwise, the sky could be the limit for this bunch after completing a 24-5 record and appearance in the Class D2 finals last season.

DIXON – Mass of Christian Burial for Donald E. Roeder, 90, Dixon, was Nov. 21 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon. Rev. Jerry Connealy was the celebrant, with burial in the church cemetery.
