WYNOT – The Ponca Indians came to Wynot on Thursday and brought with them hopes of keeping their perfect win streak alive. The Indians were able to accomplish that goal but it would take double overtime to do it.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcat basketball team is heating up at the right time of the season as they won a couple of games over the past week before heading into the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament this week.

WYNOT –The Wynot Blue Devils finally got back into action after the long Christmas/ weather postponed season when they hosted the Creighton Bulldogs Saturday.

HARTINGTON - Cedar Catholic dropped Guardian Angels Central Catholic at the Hartington-Newcastle gymnasium Jan. 20, 60-51, after dropping a game to Wayne the night before, 57-36 at the Werner Activities Center.

NORFOLK – The Cedar Catholic boys earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MidStates Conference Tournament, while the Lady Trojans were seeded seventh.

WAYNE – The Lady Bears won’t be switching conferences until the 2025-26 season, but they ventured outside of the Lewis and Clark Conference last week to take on a pair of Mid-State Conference foes.

HARTINGTON - The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans split a pair of Mid-State Conference home games over the past week defeating Wayne 61-38 on Jan. 19 and dropping a game to Guardian Angels Central Catholic 51-33 on Jan. 20.

LAUREL – The Cedar Catholic Trojans hit the road for a couple of wins to open the 2024 portion of the season and won a couple of games after dropping the third game of the campaign in the finals of the Wayne tournament. The two wins improved the Trojans season tally to 8-3 with three big games on the horizon.

LAUREL – The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan basketball team hit the road for a couple of games and completed a very successful week with a couple of wins as the Lady Trojans turned away Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Jan. 4, 63-49 and doubled Osmond/Randolph 54-27 Jan. 2 in Osmond.

HARTINGTON – The Monday-Tuesday storm this week forced school officials to rearrange some of the varsity sports schedules.
