Cedar set for another battle with Braves

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic and Battle Creek will square off for the 19th time when the two Class C2 titans clash at Russ Hochstein Field Friday night.

Cedar holds a 7-11 all-time record against Battle Creek. The first time the two teams met was in 1995, when the Braves claimed a 29-0 shut-out win at Felber Park.

The two teams have only met once in post-season. In 2022, the Trojans defeated Battle Creek 6-0 in the state semifinals.

Defense usually dominates when these two teams hit the field. There have been five shutouts in the series, including the 2020 game, in which the Trojans claimed a 6-0 overtime victory.

Cedar’s biggest win over the Braves came in 2012, when the Trojans claimed a 26-0 win.
