OMAHA–Three area students were named to the University of Nebraska Medical Center spring 2024 dean’s list.

WAYNE - Wayne State College has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for the creation of a new interdisciplinary minor.

Animals bunching in the summer months due to fly pressure goes beyond making cattle uncomfortable, it can lead to economic losses due to decreased gains, milkproduction, and weaning weights. Making control difficult, three fly species are the main culprits when it comes to pestering our animals.

YANTKON, S.D. – The Yankton Regional Aviation Association Pilot Training Scholarship is for $1,000 and was established in 2005. It is one way the YRAA promotes general aviation in southeastern South Dakota and northeastern Nebraska. Past winners have come from Beresford, Elk Point, Vermillion, and Yankton, S.D.; and Bloomfield, Creighton, Crofton, Hartington, Laurel and Wynot. The YRAA has 95 members from towns in South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska.

OMAHA – Students entering Nebraska and Iowa Western Community Colleges to study high-skill, high-wage, high-demand “STEM” courses (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) are eligible to apply for a newly announced, statewide Aksarben Foundation Scholarship.

BATTLE CREEK - Jesse Lundahl has become more than a thorn in the side of the Hartington Post 4 Senior American Legion baseball team this summer.

PLAINVIEW - The Hartington 14U baseball team used two big wins last week to take the Quad County League regular season title and the No. 1 seed into the league tournament.

WYNOT - For the third time this season, the Wynot Expos were defeated by the Yankton Tappers in South Central League action, dropping a 13-12 decision here on July 1.

CROFTON - The Hartington 18U Penguin softball team finished a busy week in its league tournament here June 30 where the Penguins went 1-2 with a pair of losses to Crofton and Verdigre sandwiched around a win over Wausa in the second round.

LINCOLN – More than 6,600 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2023-24 academic year.

WAYNE – Wayne State College included 1,154 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Spring 2024 semester. Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA for the term.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – More than 3,300 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean’s list.

SEWARD – Concordia senior Noah Schutte, Allen, recently earned recognition for his academic prowess.
