LAUREL – In the final regular season game for both teams, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears hosted the Wynot Blue Devils Friday.

CROFTON – Hartington-Newcastle had the unenviable task of taking on the No. 1 team in Class C2 in the opening round of the C2-8 Sub-District Tournament here on Feb. 13.

LINCOLN – The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska Board of Directors recently released the rosters for the 66th Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game later this summer.

CROFTON – The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans turned away Ponca in the opening round of the C2-8 Sub-District Tournament here Feb. 13, 55-36 then took on unbeaten Crofton in the finals and fell by a 54-34 tally to end the 2023-24 campaign with an 11-14 record.

RANDOLPH – After beating a very good Laurel-Concord-Coleridge team in its last outing, Hartington-Newcastle lost its final regular season contest, 49-44 to Osmond-Randolph on the road Feb. 16 before heading into SubDistrict action this week.

LAUREL – Days off, early dismissals and late starts due to winter weather in January forced the incorporation of another school day into the calendar and the approval of remote learning in the future.

LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge School Board will see some new faces around the table as two incumbents decided not to file for re-election.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy has sent invitations to schools across the state, seeking student entries for the 2025 “Nebraska: Don’t Waste It!” environmental calendar.

2024 State Cheer and Dance

WAYNE – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge’s Kassidy Koch was one of more than 250 high school vocal students representing 50 high schools from Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota to showcase their talent during Wayne State College’s Honor Choir concert held Feb. 2.

WAYNE – Wayne Public Schools won the Wayne State/Wayne High Invitational Speech Tournament held Feb. 3 on the Wayne State College campus. More than 320 entries from 19 schools competed in the event. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took part in the event, finishing 39th.

WAYNE – Several Laurel area students were recently named to the Wayne State College Dean’s List.

LINCOLN – Several area students were among the more than 6,800 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students to be named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year.

Celebrating 100 days

LAUREL – LCC’s Dylan Taylor has decided to continue his football career with the Mount Marty University Lancers.

OAKLAND – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge traveled south to Oakland for the C2-6 SubDistrict Tournament Feb. 13 and 15.
