While forage crops may not always be the main product for most producers, they do play an important role in our production systems, particularly for those of us who own livestock. We take time every year to look at crop yields and pick the varieties of corn and beans to plant or take time with catalogs and sales to find the right bull for our cows. Don’t forget in your planning this year to give time and consideration to forages as well.

HARTINGTON – Cedar County 4-H will be celebrating February as Nebraska’s

WAYNE – Kennedy Gotch, a senior at Hartington-Newcastle High School, is the recipient of the Neihardt Scholarship at Wayne State College, beginning fall 2024.

COLERIDGE – The Coleridge Feb. 14 blood drive had a great turnout, with 15 donors and 19 units of life saving blood collected. The units donated at the blood drive can help save up to 57 lives.

Valentine’s Day Royalty

COLERIDGE – The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting Feb. 5 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then they separated and held their monthly meetings.

WAUSA – Several Cedar County high school students continue to be busy speaking at weekly speech meets during the 2024 season.

CROFTON – The Hartington-Newcastle High School speech team talked its way to the top of another competition during the 2024 season.

HARTINGTON – Cedar Catholic welcomed a very hot Norfolk Catholic Knight basketball team to the Monsignor Werner Activities Center Friday for a Class C2 Top 10 showdown.

HARTINGTON – Even though Riley Sudbeck’s high school football career is over, he still wants to keep playing.

WYNOT – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils are champions of subdistrict D-2 6 as they rolled over the Humphrey St. Francis Lady Flyers on Thursday night.

WYNOT – The Wausa Lady Vikings had to travel to Wynot to take on the Lady Blue Devils in sub-district action on Tuesday night. The Lady Blue Devils would use a big 21-3 first quarter to open up a wide lead and pulled away in the second half with a 29-13 run as Wynot advanced with the 61-28 win.
