WISNER – The Hartington Post 4 Junior American Legion baseball team made it to the finals of the Ralph Bishop League Tournament with wins over Crofton and Wayne to take the North Division of the league then fell 7-3 in the championship game to Pender Post 55 here on July 6.

CROFTON – The annual emergence of mayflies at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area near Crofton means the insects are plentiful near and around the lake as they swarm to lights from the marina, cabins, facilities and campers.

WYNOT - The Wynot Expos snapped a 3-game losing steak with a 6-5 win over the Freeman Black Sox here July 7 to improve to 4-10 on the 2024 season. Earlier in the week, the Expos lost on the road to the Crofton Bluejays, 10-2 on July 3.

The team of Brandy W. was the champion of this year’s St. Helena coed softball tournament played on the 4th of July. The team won their first three, lost their first game in the double elimination, and came back to win the championship. The team enjoyed a pan full of chicken as the champions. LINCOLN – Bird-watching enthusiasts and families enjoyed new adventures all throughout the month of May while competing in the second Nebraska Birding Bowl.
