LAUREL – After dropping its first match of the season, the Laurel- Concord-Coleridge volleyball team has rolled o three straight wins to improve to 3-1 on the young season.

LINCOLN – Visitors to Johnson Lake State Recreation Area will notice the lowering of the lake level this fall. The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District will lower it in preparation of an outage at the Johnson No. 1 hydroplant.

WYNOT – The Wynot Blue Devils hosted the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats to open the 2023 football season.

HARTINGTON – For the first time since 2018, Carson Noecker did not win the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational in Hartington.

WINSIDE – The Hartington-Newcastle Lady Wildcats hit the volleyball court running with four matches in three days, opening the season 1-3 with a season opening loss at Crofton and winning one of three matches in the Winside quadrangular.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington- Newcastle Lady Wildcats volleyball team is hungry for more after posting a rather disappointing 9-21 season in 2022, but showed progress throughout the campaign, which bodes well for the future.

High school athletes prepare for new campaign

VALENTINE – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved fee increases for its state park entry permits at its meeting Aug. 4 in Valentine.
