WAYNE —Wynot traveled to Wayne Thursday night for a boys basketball battle of Blue Devils.

It was a back-andforth game for three quarters, but Wayne went on an 18-9 run in the fourth quarter to take the 60-53 win.

This game featured scoring from three-point land and came down to free throws in the final quarter. Wayne hit 11 three-pointers and Wynot finished with nine from behind the arc.

Wayne held a 9-1 advantage from the charity stripe in the deciding fourth quarter to seal the win.

Wynot was led by Dylan Heine with 19 points to lead all scorers. Kasen Koch had his best game of the year and finished with 14 points and Chase Schroeder just missed double figures with nine points.

Wayne had a balanced attack, placing four players in double figures led by Colson Nelson with 16 points and Cadien Becker with 14 points. Drue Davis and Gavin Redden each connected for 10 points to contribute to the win.

In the opening quarter, Wynot got five points each from Kasen Koch and Dylan Heine. Wayne countered with five points each by Drue Davis and Colson Nelson and a three-pointer by Caiden Becker to take the early 17-12 lead.

The two teams traded baskets in the second quarter. Wynot got a pair of threes by Dylan Heine and four more points from Kasen Koch and a basket each by Chase Schroeder and Carson Wieseler.

Wayne maintained its lead thanks to six points by Jace Jorgensen and a trey each by Colson Nelson and Gavin Redden as the home team took a 32-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Wynot roared back in the third quarter as it went on a 21-10 comeback. Dylan Heine led the charge with eight big points and Zack Foxhoven and Devin Brummer hit three-pointers to give Wynot a 47-42 lead with one quarter left.

Colson Nelson and Caiden Becker each had five points to keep Wayne in touch.

Wayne rallied in the fourth quarter from three-point range and the free-throw line. Caiden Becker, Drue Davis, Colson Nelson and Gavin Redden all hit from long range and they went 6-of-8 from the charity stripe as a team.

Wynot went cold and all it could manage was a trey by Chase Schroeder and bucket plus-one by Kasen Koch as the game slipped away and Wayne earned the 60-53 win.
