HARTINGTON – All schools in the Lewis and Clark Conference have the opportunity to enter artwork in the yearly show. Each school can enter a maximum number of entries for each level: Elementary – 7, Junior High – 10, and High School 25. There are different categories in each level.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar Catholic track-and-field teams enjoyed recent success in a couple of meets last week.

HARTINGTON – It took a couple of extra days to happen, but Hartington-Newcastle finally hosted its own track meet on April 4 after Mother Nature caused it to be postponed on April 2.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington-Newcastle and Cedar Catholic boys’ golf teams played a nine-hole triangular along with Ponca on April 6, with the Indians taking the event by firing a 170 at Hartington Golf Club.

HARTINGTON – The Wynot boys and girls track-and-field teams competed at the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational on April 4 a little short-handed.

GRAND ISLAND – The Nebraska Early Childhood Policy Leadership Academy, the state’s premier, early childhood leadership initiative, recently wrapped up its 2023-24 program in Grand Island. Jackie Steffen, Nebraska Extension Early Childhood Educator of Hartington and Jessica Lueth, Cardinal Kids Early Learning Center Director of Randolph, completed the six-month program alongside 22 other advocates representing early childhood and higher education, public health, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and economic development entities. Steffen and Lueth join a network of nearly 150 PLA alumni working in communities throughout the state to strengthen Nebraska’s early childhood systems.

LINCOLN – There were 7,746 FFA members registered for the Nebraska State FFA Convention. The FFA Blue Jacket took over downtown Lincoln April 3-5 for the 96th State FFA Convention, with 27 students from both local high school taking the challenge of competing in district contests, selling fruit and updating their Supervised Agricultural Experience, in order to be eligible to attend the State Convention.

COLERIDGE – Cedar County Communities for Kids is proud to spotlight Carol Benson. She is the owner and operator of Carol’s Child Care, LLC, and has been recognized by Nebraska Step Up to Quality for her commitment to quality child care and education. She completed a rating review and her program earned Step 3. Step Up to Quality programs go beyond state licensing requirements to better serve the needs of young children and their families and to prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.
