Nearly 220 million American adults turn to their local newspapers regularly for news and information they need to stay informed, feel more connected to their neighbors and improve their lives and communities.

HARTINGTON – A Concord man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a Laurel man with a knife and also exhibited stalking behavior toward a woman last week.

The Cedar Catholic High School class of 1973 celebrated their 50th class reunion Sept. 9 at Felber Park. Classmates and guests spent the day laughing, reminiscing, and catching up. Most came from areas in Nebraska and South Dakota. Some traveled from as far away as Florida, Arizona, Colorado, and Missouri. HARTINGTON – Lucia Steffen, daughter of Robert and Laura Steffen, is the latest recipient of the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” award. She received a medal, a certificate of completion, her final prize and a free book from the library for this accomplishment. Lucia is 4 years old and will attend Kindergarten at Holy Trinity Grade School the fall of 2025.

HARTINGTON – Riley and Dayton Sudbeck had their way with the Tri County Northeast defense here at the Hartington Community Athletic Complex Sept. 29 as they paced the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats to a second consecutive win of the season, 48-8.

ATKINSON –After dropping a hard-fought 24-21 decision to Oakland-Craig on Sept. 22, the Cedar Catholic Trojans remained on the road here on Sept. 29 and added a win on the left side of the ledger with a resounding 51-21 win over the West Holt Huskies to improve to 4-2 on the football season.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington-Newcastle volleyball team dropped a couple of matches over the past week.

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota is No. 15 in this week’s FCS Stats Perform Poll and No. 21 in the AFCA Coaches Poll released Monday morning.

BATTLE CREEK – As conference tournaments approach, Cedar Catholic split a pair of Mid-State Conference regular-season matches this past week with a hard-fought 3-2 match win over Battle Creek on the road Sept. 26 and another five-set match, this one at home to Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Sept. 28.
