Cleo Waters was presented the award for Toastmaster of the Year 2024 for Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Toastmasters Club #6217 from President Sheila Ulrich at an outdoor event in Irene, S.D. Qualifications for this award include: enthusiasm for fellow members of the club, involvement with special events, incentives to boost club participation, accepting of assignments, willingness to contribute to club’s well-being, active participation, serving in all meeting roles.

YANKTON, S.D. – Two area communities will be hosting blood drives Monday and Tuesday of next week.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar County Board of Commissioners recently received an update on the outof- state trips Cedar County Transit Manager Nikki Pinkelman has been taking for work training.

KEARNEY – Aspen A Jansen and Sadie Grace Uhing, both of Hartington; and Elena Cariel Paltz, St. Helena, have all been named to the University of Nebraska at Kearney dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester.

HARTINGTON – The Cedar County 4-H Presentation Contest was held May 28 at the Cedar County Extension Office. 4-H members gave presentations using multimedia illustrations. An Illustrated Presentation is a live talk where participants use visual aids (such as props, posters, computer-based visuals, handouts, video, etc.) to demonstrate and explain a topic.

HARTINGTON – The wheels are now in motion to replace the outdated Hartington city shop.
