HARTINGTON - There have been some changes to the process of exhibiting quilts in the 2024 Cedar County Fair Quilt Show that Cedar County residents need to be made aware of in advance to the Fair being held July 17-21.
The time to enter exhibits has been changed from 8 a.m.-i p.m., with judging to begin at 1:30 p.m. The building will also be closed, except for those entering quilts, until after judging is complete.
Two new classes have been added to the 2024 fair book. The first one is two-layer quilts. These quilts consist of just the quilt top and backing.
Another new class added to the fair is an item that was gifted to the exhibitor. The gifted item maybe, but is not limited to, a quilt, afghan, picture or memory box. The gifted item will not be judged or receive a ribbon, they are for display only. A brief write up on who received the gift, who made the gift, and any other pertinent information about the item would be appreciated.
A copy of the Open Class fair book may be picked up at the Cedar County Extension office in Hartington if you would like to look over the quilt classes to determine the appropriate class your quilted item should be entered into before bringing it to the fair on entry day.
