HARTINGTON - Cedar Catholic dropped Guardian Angels Central Catholic at the Hartington-Newcastle gymnasium Jan. 20, 60-51, after dropping a game to Wayne the night before, 57-36 at the Werner Activities Center.
WYNOT – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils picked up another conference win on Saturday night when they rolled to a 61-33 win over the Creighton Lady Bulldogs.
HARTINGTON - The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans split a pair of Mid-State Conference home games over the past week defeating Wayne 61-38 on Jan. 19 and dropping a game to Guardian Angels Central Catholic 51-33 on Jan. 20.
NORFOLK – The Cedar Catholic boys earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MidStates Conference Tournament, while the Lady Trojans were seeded seventh.

Elizabeth and William Kneifl had fun climbing a snow mountain near their house. They were later joined by their siblings, Walter (back) and Genevieve (front) as they decided to go sledding. The snow and cold couldn’t keep these area kids from being outside. The recent snowfalls were all that was needed to give area kids a chance to finally get out and have some fun in the white stuff. From sledding to climbing the huge mountains of snow to building a tunnel, or maybe building a snowman or having a snowball fight, whatever the activity was, the kids had a ball.

WAYNE – The Lady Bears won’t be switching conferences until the 2025-26 season, but they ventured outside of the Lewis and Clark Conference last week to take on a pair of Mid-State Conference foes.
SEWARD – A Laurel native continues to make a name for himself on the college basketball court.
WAYNE – After returning to the court after a couple of weeks off thanks to Old Man Winter, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge ran into a couple of good basketball teams in Battle Creek and at Wayne Jan. 19 and 20.
RANDOLPH – The City of Randolph’s newest employee is always ready to start the work day and becomes a little out of sorts when it’s time to clock out.

HARTINGTON – Defense lawyers for a Laurel couple accused of murdering four people intend to file a motion for a change of venue for the upcoming trials.

HARTINGTON – Judge Bryan Meismer granted the request by David Phillips Jr., 21, Kenner, La., to appear unshackled and in civilian clothing in front of a jury during trial on charges of second-degree murder.
