HARTINGTON – There is still time to order seedling trees for the spring 2024 conservation tree planting season. The Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD) will continue taking orders for tree seedlings through March 31st. The trees come in bundles of twenty- five seedlings. The price per bundle of tree or shrub seedlings is $32.50 plus sales tax.

Several Cedar Catholic High School students have been named as recipients of Academic All State honors. HARTINGTON – The lawyer for a man accused of a quadruple murder in Laurel is arguing the trial should be moved out of Cedar County due to pretrial publicity and juror bias.

Kella Koch, Nora Pinkleman, Emily Erwin and Ryklyn Wiebelhaus recently took part in the Father-Daughter Dance at the Laurel VFW Hall. The sound of giggles, laughter and popping of balloons could be heard in the Hall as the third annual event was held. Little girls were all dressed up in their finest topped off with cowboy boots and hats. The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Parent-Teacher Organization hosted the event with several activities planned for the evening.

LINCOLN – On March 15 and 16, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School Lego League teams competed at the new State event at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

OMAHA – Farmers National Company, the nation’s leading farm and ranch management and brokerage company, has announced that Wendi Schutte was recently presented with the Farmers National Company President’s Circle Award 

LINCOLN – The Nebraska School Activities Association announced the student recipients of the Winter 2023-2024 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association Academic All-State Awards.

LAUREL – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge golf coach Pat Harrington welcomed three returning golfers from last year’s team, which will make a good nucleus for this season as the Bears look to improve heading into the 2024 campaign.

KEARNEY – The 38th Class C All State Honor Band was held at Kearney High School March 23.

RANDOLPH – Randolph’s ambulance is now equipped with telemedicine technology thanks to a new state initiative.

Robert Patefield along with Richard Schulte serve up a to-go order at the Belden Fire Department’s annual Pancake Breakfast Sunday. Firefighters served up pancakes, French toast, sausage and eggs for a freewill donation. There was a good turnout at the event despite cold temperatures and a wintry mix of rain and sleet early.

LINCOLN – A Randolph student’s artwork was selected as part of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s statewide contest celebrating National Ag Week March 17-23.
