HARTINGTON – Hartington 14-and-under baseball coach Cale Haberer has a unique problem – “problem” is definitely not the right word.

YANKTON, S.D. – The Wynot Expos held on to take a 6-5 South Central South Dakota League baseball contest from the Yankton Tappers on June 11.

NORFOLK – Laney Kathol and Meredith McGregor put on their Cedar Catholic jerseys for the last time on the volleyball court June 10 at the annual Northeast Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game held at the Cox Activities Center on the campus of Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington Senior American Legion baseball team finished a busy week with a couple of wins to even its showing for the seven-day period with a 2-2 record after dropping the first two contests.

COLERIDGE – The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meetings June 5, at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance. This evening four members of the Auxiliary were honored for their many years of membership: Carol Rae Hefner, 73 years; Janice Wilkerson, 71 years; Kay Hefner, 67 years; and Shirley Papenhausen was honored posthumously for 67 years of membership. Many members of their families were in attendance and a small reception was held.

HARTINGTON – The June 6 Clover Kid Camp hosted 46 Cedar County 4-H Clover Kids and 20 youth and adult volunteers at the Hartington Felber Park Shelter House for the annual Cedar County 4-H Clover Kid Camp. The event is sponsored by the Cedar County 4-H Council.

WAYNE – Wayne State College included 1,183 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Spring 2023 semester. Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA for the term.

AMES, Iowa – Austin Brian Lange, Wynot, majoring in Veterinary Medicine, was among the more than 9,800 Iowa State University students who have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester Dean’s List.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa –Morningside University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Chris Spicer announced that Abbe Morten and Gavin Potts, Hartington, have joined the 446 students named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year.

NORFOLK – Associate degree and practical nursing students were recognized during a special ceremony at Northeast Community College, Norfolk, recently with the presentation of their diplomas. In addition, the tradition of nursing students receiving their pins from family members or a close friend who have helped them along their journey was part of the ceremony.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – More than 3,000 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2023 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean’s list.

LAUREL – A recent four-day trip to Washington D.C. provided 49 Laurel-Concord- Coleridge students, and 23 parents and teachers a first-hand account of America’s earliest beginnings as a country and nation.
