CONCORD — A special family event is being planned at the Haskell Ag Lab.
The Science & Ag Family Field Day will be held at the Haskell Agricultural Laboratory, 57905 866 Road near Concord on Thursday, Aug. 10.
The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue throughout the day. The day will conclude around 3 p.m. Feel free to attend the entire day or any part of the day.
Activities include presentations on Nebraska Land Values and Cash Rental Rates in 2023 by Jim Jansen, Extension Educator; Water Quality by the UNL Water Quality team.
The day will feature a Northeast Arboretum Tour in the morning. Research tours will feature various educators and specialists. Backyard Farmer panel will be here from 12:45 to 2 pm. to answer your questions. Participants are encouraged to bring samples or questions for the experts.
Activities for the entire family include healthy snack demonstrations, farm safety, Nebraska Tourism ideas, pressure canner testing, rocket and drone demonstrations, STEM activities, silage safety demonstrations, health screenings, horticulture information, and much more.
Educational trailers include the Science Literacy Trailer, Mobile Beef Lab, NECC Precision Ag Trailer, and Shooting Sports Trailer.
A returning highlight will be Drs. Ben and Erin Schroeder from the Heartland Docs, DVM TV show. Feel free to drop by their booth to meet them and ask your animal questions.
In addition, the Life Serve Bloodmobile will be here so come and give the gift of life by donating blood at our event.
The event will have food trucks on site. Each person will receive $10 in tickets to use at the food trucks when they sign in at the registration table the day of the event.
