OAKLAND – A couple of Class C2 football powers butted heads on Sept. 22 when Cedar Catholic traveled to Oakland to take on the Oakland-Craig Knights.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington- Newcastle volleyball team evened its season record at 6-6 with a win over Bloomfield at home on Sept. 19 in Lewis and Clark Conference volleyball action.

WAKEFIELD – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils and the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears met in the second match of a volleyball triangular played in Wakefield on Sept. 21, with Wynot coming away with a 25-21, 25-22 sweep of LCC in the best-of-threesets match.

TYNDALL, SD - The Hartington-Newcastle boys’ and girls’ cross country teams headed for Tyndall, S.D. on Sept. 19 to compete in the Bon Homme Invitational.with the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats bringing home the runner-up team hardware.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept submissions for the 2023 Nebraskaland Magazine photo contest starting Oct. 1.

WAYNE – The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department is alerting the public that the first pool of mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus has been found within the health district of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties for the 2023 season. West Nile Virus is present in Northeast Nebraska.

CROFTON – The 2023 Life Chain for this area of Nebraska will extend from St. Rose of Lima parish, Crofton, to the extreme eastern boundaries to Holy Family parish, near Bow Valley on Highway 12.
