HARTINGTON — The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats took on the Crofton Warriors Monday, falling 24-8.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Wildcats were able to hold their own a majority of the game while forcing multiple punts and a forced fumble.
A lot of that was due to Brayden Lammers and Carter Kelly knowing their assignments and filling their roles as defensive ends, said coach Dylan Behnk.
“Offensively, Jason Heimes ran the ball hard all night and there were glimpses of the quick passing game being effective,” Behnk said.
The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcat junior varsity squad played Wausa Sept. 18, falling 34-16 to the Vikings.
The game was very physical, Behnk said. Mason Krause had another good game with multiple catches that provided the team with numerous first downs.
Defensively, Aidan Collier and Brayden Lammers made some plays in the Vikings backfield, but overall the Vikings did a good job with their blocking assignments throughout the night, Behnk said.
