Cedar Catholic defeated Winnebago 71-49 to move on to the semi-finals where they knocked off Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. Wayne then ended Cedar’s title run in Saturday’s championship game. Cedar has a rematch with LCC this Thursday and will face Wayne again later this month.

STANTON – The Hartington-Newcastle offense received a boost of confidence in the consolation finals of the Stanton Holiday Tournament here Dec. 29 as they turned away the host Mustangs 52-28 after dropping a tough-opening round match up with undefeated Lutheran High Northeast.

HARTINGTON – In 2023, the Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District board of directors implemented conservation practices, projects, and services in Northeast Nebraska to benefit local natural resources. LINCOLN –For the past 50 years, the University of Nebraska- Lincoln’s nitrogen application calculator has been used by producers to calculate the appropriate amount of nitrogen to apply to their corn crop fields. The calculator aims to help producers understand the 4Rs system when using nitrogen. The 4 Rs include Right source, Right rate, Right placement, and Right timing. These 4Rs work together and are adjusted based on the producer’s choices.

HARTINGTON – The Northeast Nebraska Prescribed Burn Association was given the Lead Ignitor Award at the 2023 Prescribed Fire Conference Dec. 5 in Kearney. The NNPBA was recognized for being a significant supporter of prescribed burning within their community for conserving native grasslands, wildlife, and ranching heritages.

This March 29, 2023, photo depicts one of the biggest news stories of the year in Laurel, which is the ongoing addition and renovation project at Laurel- Concord-Coleridge School. Dirt work began in late March at the front of the school building. School officials say the construction project is moving along right on schedule.
