Joel (Joey) Johnson got some help to bring in the harvest from friends, family and a national farm group last week. Johnson was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on his spine approximately four months ago. He underwent surgery and spent two months in an Omaha hospital. After spending some time at home, he and his wife, Angela, are now in Boston where Joey will receive radiation treatments for the next two months. HARTINGTON – A Louisiana man’s murder case will continue into next year.

LAUREL – The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears ended the 2023 campaign with a 3-5 record on the gridiron, which was not what they had hoped for, but a closer look at the season’s results shows they weren’t far off from what they had hoped.

CROFTON – The postseason volleyball experience for the Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Lady Bears was cut short in the opening round at Crofton in the C2-5 SubDistrict Tournament.

KEARNEY – Six Laurel-Concord-Coleridge athletes competed in the 2023 Nebraska Cross Country Championships on Oct. 20 at Kearney Country Club under some rather hot temperatures.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A Hartington woman was honored nationally for her work on a program which combines STEM learning resources with literacy development.

HOMER – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge battled to the end, but came up just short of a trip to the Lewis and Clark Conference volleyball finals, dropping a semifinal match to Wynot 25-23, 25-18, 16-25, 16-25 and 10-15.

EMERSON – What was once a promising season came to an abrupt end as the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge football team fell to Tri County Northeast 50-14 in what turned out to be the last game for the Bears in 2023.
