VERMILLION, S.D. — Ron Leapley received his Masters of Natural Science degree at the University of South Dakota commencement exercises that were held in Vermillion on Sunday.

COLERIDGE — The Big 9 Mutual Aid District held a day-long fire school here on Sunday under the direction of State Fire Instructor Bruce Wilson.

COLERIDGE — Fr. Wm. Whelan arrived this past week from Omaha. He will serve as the pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, and St. Mary’s Parish, Belden. He will also be the guidance director at Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington.

COLERIDGE — Mr. James Pratt has been hired to be the guidance counselor at the Coleridge Community Schools for the 1969-70 school year.

WAYNE — Three students who are attending Wayne State College have been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the second semester.

They are James Gray Jr., Jennie Peck and Joyce Peck.

COLERIDGE — The new scoreboard at the town ballpark was installed this week. It is multi-purpose and can be used for football and baseball.

LINCOLN — Brian Feelhaver will be attending the 12th Annual Junior Lawmen Program sponsored by the American Legion, Department of Nebraska.

It will begin June 4 at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Center in Lincoln.

COLERIDGE — An open house will be held in honor of Gladys Erickson’s 80th birthday on June 3 from 2-4 p.m. in the Congregational church basement.

LAUREL — Bernie Asbra and Kai Thomsen were each winners of $25 of boxed beef for guessing the weight of the live beef on dis play Saturday at the “May Is Beef Month” promotion sponsored by the Cedar County Feeders Association, as well as the L aurel Chamber of Commerce.

NORFOLK — Twenty-four teams will take part in a doubleelimination competition, The Funk Construction Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament, on June 9-10.

The contest will be held at the Ta-Ha-Zouka Softball Complex down in Norfolk.

Trophies will be awarded to the top six teams.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Robert Neu, son of Rev. and Mrs. Robert Neu, has been accepted as a scholarship student into the graduate program at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.

COLERIDGE — Keith Hochstein left May 23 for Spain where he will be a model through the Nancy Bounds Modeling Agency, based in Norfolk and Omaha.

Keith will be on assignment with the Natasha Modeling Agency of Barcelona, Spain.
