Several village boards are lacking candidates

HARTINGTON — Saint Helena, Magnet and Wynot all currently have vacancies to fill on their village boards.

Anyone interested in filing for a village board v acancy can file an affidavit to compete as a write-in candidate until Friday, Oct. 25, with the Cedar County Clerk’s Office.

In Saint Helena, incumbent Victor Paltz filed for re-election but Kyle Suing did not, leaving an opening for his seat.

In Magnet, there are two vacancies afters James Cautrell and Br ad Backstrom did not seek re-election. Jason Becker filed to retain his seat on the board.

And in Wynot, incumbent Janice Heimes did not file for another t erm, leaving her seat on the village board v acant. Incumbents Charles Burbach and Melvin Heimes both filed for re-election.

Meanwhile, Coleridge will have a contested race for its village board with six candidates seeking three available seats. Incumbents LeRoy Cautrell and Brenda Lage will be on the ballot along with newcomers to the race: Dennis Heitman, Jesse Jackson, Terrill Cook and Tony Kalin. Incumbent Jeremy Bruning did not file to retain his seat on the Coleridge village board.

For Fordyce and Belden’s village board race, two candidates exist to fill two board seats. Incumbents Bryan Thoene and Thomas Pinkelman want another term on the Fordyce board.

In Belden, incumbent Brad Stapleman will be on the ballot alongside newcomer Gene Ohlrich. Incumbent Angela Ohlrich did not file for re-election on the Belden Village Board.
