OSMOND – Hartington-Newcastle Public School, Cedar Catholic High School, and several other high schools from Northeast Nebraska participated in District Music Contest April 19 in Osmond.

HARTINGTON – Lyla Lenhoff, daughter of Nick and Lindsey Lenhoff, has read successfully completed the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program at the Hartington city library. She received a medal, a certificate of completion, her final prize and a free book from the library for this accomplishment.

There were 16 Hartington-Newcastle students selected for Pierce Honor Band. Those students include, (front) Logan Kneifl, Caleb Heimes-3rd Chair Trombone, Cameron Bruning, Harper Folkers, Celia Gall, Brooklynn Peters-1st Chair Tenor Sax, Ashlynn Dailey- 2nd Chair French Horn, Emma Hoeppner; (back) Owen Hart, Alyk Zach, Kyptin Collier- 1st Chair Tuba, Cris Kneifl- 4 year Member and scholarship, Merrick Folkers-1st year Tuba, Paisley Collier, Ali Ford-4 year member and scholarship, and Ella Hoeppner. Students selected for the Pierce Honor Band earn a scholarship and certificate for being selected for Pierce Honor Band for four years.

HARTINGTON – Several sophomore high school students were inadvertantly ommitted from the Hartington-Newcastle honor roll list published in last week’s Cedar County News.

HARTINGTON – Hartington- Newcastle School has recently released the third quarter honor rolls for the 2023-24 school year.

LINCOLN – There were 7,746 FFA members registered for the Nebraska State FFA Convention. The FFA Blue Jacket took over downtown Lincoln April 3-5 for the 96th State FFA Convention, with 27 students from both local high school taking the challenge of competing in district contests, selling fruit and updating their Supervised Agricultural Experience, in order to be eligible to attend the State Convention.

HARTINGTON – Cedar Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School recently released the third quarter honor roll for the 2023-24 school year.

SEWARD – Following one of the best individual seasons in Concordia University men’s basketball history, senior forward Noah Schutte was recognized appropriately on Monday, April 1.

HARTINGTON – The Hartington- Newcastle High School speech team’s successful season is set to continue at the State meet.
