Ryan was born on January 4th, 1980, in Osmond, to Charles Allan and Tamara Ann (Becker) Hintz.
Ryan was the last kindergartner to attend Dixon Public School. He then transferred to Laurel-Concord where he graduated in 1998. He was active in 4-H and St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Growing up, Ryan was surrounded by the Becker cousins taking many trips and vacations with them. He and Dustin Nobbe were always on some type of adventure. After high school, he attended Northeast Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in diesel technology.
Ryan interned with Gray Carriers while in college and remained there for 25 years wearing the hats of mechanic, dispatcher and management. Over the years, Roy Gray became a second father to him.
Through Ryan’s first marriage, he and Kristi Thomas were blessed with two boys, Charles Aiden “Charlie” IV and Maddox William.
Charlie and Maddox were Ryan’s whole world. Ryan provided his boys with the experience of growing up the way he did. On the acreage, they lived to the fullest both inside and outside the house. Inside activities meant homework first, with lots of play time to follow. The boys alternated picking the dinner menu, playing UNO, building model cars and rockets; some of their favorite activities. Breakfast at Perkins was a Saturday staple. When it comes to the outdoors, Ryan loved to teach Charlie and Maddox the ins and outs of riding and driving 4-wheelers, motorcycles, side-by-sides, and snow mobiles. Ryan’s enthusiasm for sharing the wild outdoors with his boys gave him great joy.
Ryan married the love of his life, Amanda McKibbon, Sept. 21, 2024. Through their union, he gained another son, Ethan McKibbon. Ryan was a true romantic, he expressed his love daily leaving Amanda sticky notes on their bathroom mirror. He always had a smile and kiss for Amanda. Spoiling her with affection was one of his favorite things to do. He never took his eyes off her.
Ryan was an avid hunter, angler and a Harley-riding jack of all trades. He appreciated nature and looked forward to deer hunting with his uncle, Jack Hintz, and Mike Surber at the Timber. He loved passing his knowledge of firearms on to Charlie and Maddox. They spent many afternoons target shooting. Ryan also loved taking the boys and Amanda on fishing excursions. Gavins Point was always a great treat for them. He also found time for annual fishing trips to remote parts of Canada with Uncle Dougger and friends. Ryan also enjoyed the peace of fishing at Buck Skin Lake. Another favorite of his was hitting the road on his Harley. Whether it was just Amanda and him, or with a group of friends, Ryan would refer to it as a day well spent.
At the age of 3, Ryan lost his father, Chuck. His mother Tammy; “Dad,” Marv May; and sister, Brandy, raised Ryan into the man we all knew and loved so much. He in turn shared that love with his nieces, Shayley Ryan and Skylar Ann, who are incredibly special to him.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Charles Allan Hintz II; grandparents, Charles and Lois Hintz, Gene and Lois Becker, and Arnold and Elsie May; and father-in-law, Terry McKibbon.
