Elizabeth Studebaker SCAPPOOSE, Ore. — Elizabeth Studebaker, 95, Scappoose, Ore., died March 13, 2025.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Liz was born Nov 5, 1929, in Hartington, to Alfred and Esther Anderson. The third of four daughters, Liz graduated from Hartington High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a bachelor’s degree in home economics. In addition to being a school teacher for a short time, she worked for Black Hills Power and Light in Wyoming. She then moved with her young son, David, to Washington, D.C., to take a job with the Department of Agriculture, responsible for introducing American food products to foreign countries. She met Lt. Commander Clayton A. Studebaker through mutual friends and they were married Oct 23, 1965. She was instantly a military wife and the mother of four small children.

As a military wife, it was a life of many moves and lots of adventure. Liz loved entertaining, gardening, going places and trying new things. She loved spending time with her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

During retirement, Liz and Stu spent lots of time flying their plane around the country and sailing their cabin cruiser through the Pacific Northwest and the San Juan Islands. They also enjoyed their winter RV trips with friends to Baja California and the deserts of southern California.

Liz will always be remembered for her warm welcoming smile, sense of humor, kind heart and her love for family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivor’s include her husband of 60 years, Clayton “Stu” Studebaker Sr., Scappoose Ore.; her children, Clayton (Judy) Studebaker Jr.,Yankton S.D.; David Studebaker, Port Orchard, Wash.; and Kim (Paul) Hanson, Hereford, Ariz.; as well as three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Alfred and Esther Anderson; inlaws, Clayton H. And Kathryne N. Studebaker; daughter,Linda Studebaker; and sisters, Doris Orwig, Laura Stolpe and Gloria Covlin.
