YANKTON, S.D. — Chona Michelle (Fahrenholz) Pallas, 56, Yankton, S.D., died March 15, 2025, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. The visitation was March 21 at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home, Wakefield. The funeral service was also March 21 at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home. Immediately following the funeral there was fellowship and refreshment in the Funeral Home Community Room. Arrangements were under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home. Chona was born April 20, 1968, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Truman and Mary (VanBuskirk) Fahrenholz. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1986. Chona had many skills which she used during her diversified working career. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle and hanging out with her friends. She was a loving and kindhearted mother and grandmother, and showed her compassion by fostering and adopting many puppies. Chona liked living in her camping village along the river where she made several friends and attended the community events and social gatherings. In the summer, she liked boating and floating on the river. Her greatest joy was her three grandboys.
Chona is survived by her sons, Kailub Gatzemeyer, Pender; Matt (Jayde) Gatzemeyer, West Point; A. Lucas (Megan) Pallas, Norfolk; daughter, Katie Pallas, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandsons, Brantley Pallas, Daxton Pallas, Beckett Pallas; brothers, Elliot (Rebecca) Fahrenholz, Shane Fahrenholz and Jason Fahrenholz; and one granddaughter on the way.
Chona is preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, Kenneth Dale Irey.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
