YANKTON, S.D. — David J. Eickhoff, 74, Yankton, S.D., formerly of Hartington, died March 7, 2025, at his residence.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be March 15, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington with the Rev. Kevin Vogle officiating.
Burial of his cremated remains will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Hartington.
Visitation with family present will begin at 9:30 a.m., and a rosary recited at 10 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
David Joel Eickhoff was born May 27, 1950, in Hartington to Martin John and Cecilia Emma (Becker) Eickhoff. Dave graduated from Hartington Public School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. After Dave returned from the service, he attended the University of Nebraska, graduating with a degree in business administration in 1974. Dave worked for an accounting firm in Yankton for three years and then worked for Mollett Music as a controller. In 1978, Dave began farming with his brother, Jim, until 1996, when he started working for Bomgaars in Yankton and was still with Bomgaars presently.
Dave was an avid sports fan – supporting his favorite teams, the Huskers, Boston Celtics,and the Denver Broncos. Dave was a prolific basketball player in high school and he continued his passion for the sport. He played softball for the Chief Bar in the Hartington Men’s league years ago.
Dave is survived by his five brothers, Roland Eickhoff, Kearney; Sidney Eickhoff,Centerville, Va.; Mark (Carol) Eickhoff, Westerville, Ohio; Bill (Julie) Eickhoff Hemingford; Larry (Catherine), Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister, Judy Pinkelman, Hartington; sisters-in-law. Sheila Eickhoff, Hartington; Daisy Eickhoff, Westfield, Ind.; brother-in-law, Rodney Pinkelman; 26 nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Cecilia; two brothers, James and Norman; sister, Mary Jean Pinkelman; sistersin- law, Beverly Eickhoff and Susan Eickhoff; and brother-in-law, Gary Pinkelman.
