BOW VALLEY — Bernard “Bernie” Wieseler, 86, Bow Valley, died March 1, 2025, in Coleridge. There will be a reception for Bernie to celebrate his life at 2:30 p.m., March 10, at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Hall, Bow Valley. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Bernard was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Hartington, to Albert and Rose (Arens) Wieseler. He grew up on a farm near Hartington and attended Wynot Grade School and then St. Helena High School. Bernie joined the United States Merchant Marines and served his country for several years. He married Eileen Pick Jan. 19, 1960, in Bow Valley. They lived in Duluth, Minn., and Nashville, Tenn., before settling in Omaha, in 1962. Bernie and Eileen were married for 12 years and had four children, Robert, Joan, Judy and David.

Bernie was a diesel mechanic for Kenworth for over 20 years and then drove truck for Werner Enterprises. Bernie later moved back to Bow Valley and drove part time for Kleinschmit Trucking.

Bernie loved playing checkers and cards, especially bid euchre and sheepshead. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching Westerns, working on tractors and fixing farm equipment with his brother, Mickey. When Bernie was younger, he enjoyed roller skating and even entered roller skating competitions. He absolutely loved visiting with his friends and he never met a stranger. He could talk to anyone and was full of one liners.

Bernie is survived by four children, Robert (Marilyn) Wieseler, Sidney, Iowa; Joan (Mark) Jamieson, Pewaukee, Wis.; Judy (Mike) Wozny, Omaha; and David (Becky) Wieseler, Battle Creek, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene Eickhoff, California, and Carol (Anthony) Thoene, Bow Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose aBetty Jean Filips, Albert “Junior” Wieseler, Anna Marie Schaefer and Anthony “Mickey” Wieseler.
