WYNOT — Edward F. Pinkelman, 95, Wynot, died Feb. 20, 2025, at his farm in Brooky Bottom, near Wynot. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 24 at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial was at Sts. Philip & James Cemetery, St. James, with military rites by the Wynot American Legion Post #31. Pallbearers were Ms seven sons, Cyril, Mark, Norbert, Alan, Roger, Marlen and Dale Pinkelman. Visitation and a vigil service were Sunday afternoon, at church, and continued Monday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wmtz Funeral Home, Hartington. Edward Francis Pinkelman was bom at home near St. James, July i;‘„ 1929, to Fritz Stephan and Rose Helen (Imoehl) Pinkelman. He and Ms twin brother, Edmund, were the oldest of seven children. He grew up on the family farm near St. James, where he attended country school and later attended Trinity High School in Sioux City, Iowa, for a year.
He was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he resumed farming in Brooky Bottom. He met and later married Jeanette D. Jansen in Menominee, Nov. 27,1957. Their entire married life was spent in Brooky Bottom, bringing up their family and running a sustainable farming operation. He took pride in the fact they raised what they fed, and fed what they raised. Edward was a farmer to the core, he truly loved the land he was blessed to call home. Many hours were spent walking his pastures, driving the section and watcMng wildlife walk across Ms front lawn and in nearby fields.
He was a member of both Sts. Phillip & James Catholic Church, and later, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wynot. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a member of the church choir, and volunteered for many years mowing parish grounds.
Edward enjoyed fishing, raising and hand-shelling (most of all eating) popcorn, playing baseball, listeMng to Twins baseball, and dancing with Jeanette. He also coached youth baseball for many years and was a volunteer election worker until he was 90.
Edward is survived by his children, Cyril (Paula), Madison; Mark, Wynot; Sharon (Pete) Van Driel, Irene, S.D.; Elaine (Duane) Guenther, Crofton; Norbert, Wynot; Betty (Lariy) Leise, Pierce; Leann (Tom) Rockne, Yankton, S.D.; Alan, Bellevue; Nancy, Omaha; Arlene (Todd) Anderson, Bondurant, Iowa; Roger (Angela), Omaha; Jolene (Glenn) Brezack, Omaha; Marlen (Emilie), St. George, Utah; Dale (Mindy), Lincoln; Renee (Koiy) Kettner, New Ulm, Minn.; 48 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Frederick (Carol), Wynot; sisterin- law, Charlotte Pinkelman, Wynot; Stanley, Wynot; a sister, Celestine (Jim) Dvorak; sister-in-law, Barb Jansen, Omaha; and sister-in-law, Margaret Jansen, Greenwood, Ind.
He was preceded in death by Ms parents, Fritz and Rose Pinkelman; Ms wife, Jeanette; twin brother, Edmund and wife, Lorraine; a sister, Rosemary and Gene Wuebben; a brother, Jerome; and a sister-in-law, Violet Pinkelman.
