HARTINGTON — Anton J. “Tim” Jensen, 85, Hartington, died Feb. 8, 2025, at the Providence Medical Center, Wayne, with a long-standing illness of Lymphoma.

Funeral services were Feb. 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating.

The burial will take place after cremation at a later date.

Visitations was Feb. 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to the service.

The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Onsite Crematory, Yankton, S.D., was entrusted with the service details.

Tim grew up in Hartington, graduated from Hartington High School, and married Claudette M. Hochstein Aug. 30, 1958. Early on, Tim worked on many projects within the state utilizing his skills as a heavy equipment operator. Most notably Highway 11 by Atkinson. There he did the dirt work for the highway/bridges that are still utilized today. In 1960, Tim and Claudette took over the family farm where they raised cattle, hogs, chickens, and had a large garden to feed the five kids. He was extremely proud of having the farm in the family for over 100 years and received the Pioneer Award the summer of 2024. While working on the farm, Tim also worked for the Cedar County road department for many years, did dirt work/drove truck for several different entities and finished his career driving to Albert Lea, Minn., up into his 70s delivering trailers.

Tim truly loved visiting with people and giving them a “hard” time as many may know. Countless hours on the phone connecting with people or stopping by to visit was time he cherished.

Tim is survived by his wife, Claudette M. Jensen; children, Marylou (Bob) Pycha; Anton Jr. “Jody” Jensen, Morse Bluff; Ken Jensen, Hartington; and Tiffani Stegemann, Valley; his sister. Sally Burrichter, Montrose, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle M. Gatzemeyer, formerly of Bancroft; mother, Lucille E. Jensen, and father, Anton “Tony” Jensen Sr, formerly of Hartington.
