Mass of Christian Burial will be Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Michael W. Grewe officiating.
Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers will be Owen Armstrong, Eli Armstrong, William McTaggart, Charley McTaggart, Faith McTaggart, Atlee Rumbaugh, Claire Lewandowski, Bristol McTaggart, Nora McTaggart and Zane McTaggart.
Visitation and a vigil service were Tuesday, at church, and will resume Wednesday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Janelle Marie was born Dec. 3, 1953, in Wakefield, to Wilbur F. and Shirley M. (Paulsen) Habrock. She grew up in Emerson, graduating from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1972. She attended UNL and then worked for an accounting firm in Emerson. Janelle married William Raymond McTaggart March 1, 1974, in Emerson. She began working in the Post Office in Emerson for six years, three years in Wakefield, then transferred to Hartington in 1991. Janelle was Postmaster in Hartington until she retired in 2014.
She and Bill enjoyed traveling in the wintertime. Janelle also traveled with her sisters and friends. Janelle spent a lot of time with her grandchildren, attending their games, dance performances and other school activities. She volunteered at the Holy Trinity Youth Camp for many years, held an hour of adoration at church, and helped write petitions for the Masses. Her lasting legacy for her children and grandchildren is her kindness, graciousness and witty sense of humor.
Janelle is survived by her husband, Bill, Hartington; five children and spouses, Amy (James) Armstrong, Omaha; Kevin (Becky Pieper) McTaggart, Omaha; Keri (Chris) Lewandowski, Lincoln; Robert, Hartington; Anthony (Nicole) McTaggart, Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; five siblings, LeAnn OBrecht, Lincoln; Linda Prinz, West Point; Lorie (Glen) Meyer, Pender; Gary (Sandy) Habrock, Emerson; and Jolene Koehler, Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eric on Dec. 25, 1997, at age 16, and Brian, age 17, June 22, 2004; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Catherine McTaggart.
