Doyle Kessinger LAUREL — Doyle M. Kessinger, 93, Laurel, formerly of Dixon, died Jan. 14, 2025, at Hillcrest Care Center,Laurel. Visitation was Jan. 20 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial. A luncheon followed the funeral at the Dixon Community Center.

Doyle Kessinger LAUREL — Doyle M. Kessinger, 93, Laurel, formerly of Dixon, died Jan. 14, 2025, at Hillcrest Care Center,Laurel. Visitation was Jan. 20 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial. A luncheon followed the funeral at the Dixon Community Center.

Burial was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Pender.

Arrangements were under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home, Wakefield.

Doyle was born March 8, 1931, on his parents’ family farm near Rosalie, the son of Alvin and Maxine (Fallon) Kessinger. Following his graduation from Bancroft High School, Doyle was drafted into the United States Army. During his time in the Army, Doyle served in South Korea. After being discharged in 1954, Doyle began working as a racehorse trainer around the United States. While working in Raton, N.M., he met his future wife, Twilla Hale. They were married in Raton Aug. 20, 1962. They continued to travel, training horses, before moving to Homer, where Doyle managed a small ranch known as The Ponderosa for an absentee owner. Later they moved to Dixon, where he managed a hog confinement operation. He then became an over-the-road truck driver, which he did for many years until his retirement. Twilla died Aug. 20, 2015.

Doyle enjoyed reading and tending to his garden. He is survived by his sons, Gary Kessinger, Omaha; Alvin (Christina) Kessinger, Bellevue; Matthew (Redding) Kessinger, Roswell, Ga.; Michael Kessinger, Omaha; daughters, Adel Bohlken, Laurel; Jodi Kessinger, Omaha; 12 grandchildren, Bricen Kessinger, Tyler Kessinger, Nicholas Kessinger, Evan Kessinger, Nicholas Rennaker , Quin Rohan, Katie Frye, Cassie Agerholm, Leah Rennaker, Isabella Kessinger, Taryn Kessinger and Cora Kessinger; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Gordon, North, Va., and Kayleen Kessinger-Elson, LaVista.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twilla; infant daughter, Virginia Ann; and a sister, Patty Heineman.
