GODLEY, Texas — Kathleen “Kathy” Waits, 77, Godley, Texas, died peacefully Dec. 16, 2024.

Visitation was Dec. 19 at Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home, Alvarado, Texas. 76009 A Funeral Mass was Dec. 20 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Burleson, Texas.

Interment followed the services at Glenwood Cemetery, Alvarado.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Ishmael, Todd Ishmael, David Ishmael, Braxton Ishmael, Bryon McClure, Austin McClure.

Honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Ishmael, Beau Ishmael, Kolton Ishmael, Lane Ishmael, Conner Ishmael and Adrian Ishmael.

Kathy was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Crofton, to Raymond and Anna Schmidt. She married Kenneth Waits Dec. 4, 1965. Kathy worked as a secretary at Holy Name Catholic School for about 10 years. She later became a sales correspondent at Leaman Container and Green Bay Packaging, where she worked for over 20 years. Following this, she served as the Director of the Crofton Housing Authority for 12 years.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed playing bingo, visiting casinos, crocheting, and needlepoint.

Kathy is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Ishmael and her partner, Keith Peacock; Pamela Waits Gomez and her husband, Johnny; and Melinda Smith; and her step daughter, Tammy Belt; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Waits; her mother, Anna Peitz; her father, Raymond Schmidt; and her step grandson, Justin Harmon.
