Ardith Herbolsheimer PIERCE — Funeral service for Ardith M. Herbolsheimer, 98, of Pierce, will be 10:30 a.m., Dec. 16, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce. Rev. Jacob Tuma will be officiating the service.
Interment will be held at the parish cemetery, Pierce. Casketbearers will be Phelan Miller, Joshua Miller, Kaye Lynn Christiansen, Mandy Backer, Kari Olson, Tracy Larsen, Brian Herbolsheimer, Laura Benes, Angie Huwaldt and Megan Retzlaff.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, also at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Ardith died Dec. 8, 2024, at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home, Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce, is in charge of the arrangements.
Ardith was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Pierce to Martin and Gertrude (Noerenburg) Koehler. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce. Ardith attended grade school at District 3, St. John’s Parochial School, and Pierce High School. She married Earl Herbolsheimer Nov. 17, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. After they were married, they farmed in the Pierce area. Ardith worked alongside her husband in their farming operation, raising livestock. Her passion was raising her chickens, having around 300 laying hens, gardening, and baking cream pies and cookies.
Ardith and Earl retired and moved into Pierce in May 1994. Ardith made cross-stitch pictures for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her grandchildren, going to their 4-H shows, school and sports activities, playing cards, especially the card game Hand and Foot.
Ardith had been a resident at Heritage of Bel-Air since August 2023. She loved watching Nebraska Cornhusker Volleyball.
Ardith was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce, the Ladies Aid, Choir, Fellowship Club, and various card clubs.
Survivors include her children, Sharol (Harry) Miller, Auburndale, Fla.; Bill (LeAnn) Herbolsheimer, Pierce; Marsha (Ed) Huwaldt, Randolph; Mark Herbolsheimer, and significant other, Jan White, Pierce; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, seven step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Gertrude Koehler; husband, Earl, in 1995; infant son, Therrol; granddaughter, Crystal, in 1984; brother and sister-in-law, Marlin and Lorraine Koehler; and her best friend, Irene Koepke.
